A lot of the carpet we clean in Lexington is younger than the kids walking on it. The town has added subdivisions faster than almost anywhere in the Midlands, and most of those houses came with builder-grade carpet: a short, light-colored nylon or polyester that looks great at the closing and starts to show a gray path down the hallway somewhere around year three.
That's the job we see most here, and it's a good one to catch early.
Why builder carpet wears the way it does
Cheaper carpet has less fiber per square inch, so dirt sinks down to the backing faster and there's less pile to hide it. That gray lane is mostly grit and body oil packed in at the base of the tufts, very little actual dye damage, and every trip down the hall grinds it a little deeper. Vacuuming pulls the loose stuff off the top and leaves the rest.
Our opinion, after a lot of these homes: the first professional cleaning on a builder carpet should happen before it looks bad, somewhere in the second or third year. Wait until year six and you can still get it clean, but some of that pile has already been cut by the grit, and no cleaning puts it back.
What a visit looks like
Your technician walks the rooms with you first, points out anything that worries them, and gives you the price before any equipment comes in. Spots and the traffic paths get a pre-treatment. Then the carbonated solution goes down, the bubbles lift the soil up off the backing, and the machine pulls it away. We use very little water, so the carpet is usually dry enough to walk on in about an hour and nobody is tiptoeing around wet floors through dinner.
The 3 rooms for $88 coupon covers most of a downstairs in a typical newer house here. If you have a sectional that's seen the same years as the carpet, upholstery cleaning is easy to add while the crew is already in the living room.
One honest limit. If a spot has been there for months and somebody already scrubbed it with a store product, we'll get most of it, but sometimes a faint shadow stays. We'll tell you that before we start, not after.
Close to the office
We work out of 203 W Main St, a block from the Icehouse Amphitheater, so Lexington homes are the short drive on our route. Older houses near downtown and the Old Mill get the same visit as the newest place off Corley Mill Rd. They just tend to have different problems: more area rugs and hardwood in the older homes, more wall-to-wall carpet out in the subdivisions. Our Lexington listing sits at 4.7 stars on Google from more than 100 local reviews, and most of those come from people within a few miles of Main Street.
